We have a toddler at home and I must say we can never follow one parenting style. Its mostly the authoritative mixed with freestyle parenting.
We always want to have a discipline and set rules in the house, with some yes days in her life when we accept everything what she says.
We mostly stick to a routine for our kid which has been working great with her.
Let me say giving her the “yes” day has also made a difference in her mood and some positive learning for us as well in terms of self control, rational thinking and letting our kids learn from their wrong choices which they make at times.
Giving control to them for a day makes them less fussy and more responsible towards their work and actions. What more I could want?
Yes Day is a way to be respectful and to acknowledge, early on, that this is her life. Kids have a brain in their head, and they have a sense of how they want their lives to work.
Parents should start there and support that, instead of thinking we are supposed to make (our children) a certain way.
Few rules that we follow:
- Build your own parenting style. Tweak, twist, mix any parenting style as it suits your kid. After all we follow these to grow a responsible caring human for this society.
- Never compare with others, what suits me might not suit you. You and your child is unique so find out the best which would suit you the most.
- Be patient, its easier said than done, but believe me patience is the key in parenting.
Just go with the flow, its ok to have a bad day, its ok to have a cranky baby, these are all normal. We are all in the same boat.
Happy parenting.!!
Swati is one of the first Instagram mom bloggers that I met..😊
She is a working mom who is raising her 3 year old daughter with her husband in Pune. When you meet the cutie, you wouldn’t believe that she just turned 3. As bubbly and cute she is, she also is so mature and understanding for her age.
She believes in ‘Yes’ day which I have not yet been able to implement in our home and advices to experiment with different parenting styles to find your own.
Checkout Swati’s Page @mumma_nextdoor on how she normalizes frowned upon qualities in a child.
Be a part of raw & real moments of her life and her super cute baby girl who is now a model..
