7 habits I couldn’t resume Post-Partum

Changing habits changed my life Post-Partum

During my pregnancy, I had to give up some habits for the sake our little bun in my oven. I consoled myself by thinking that once the baby is out, I will be able to resume all these. But I was unware that I will have to wait for quite sometime before I can indulge back in these habits.

Some habits which were a distant dream Post-Partum for me:
  1. Sleep on my Tummy: I loved sleeping on my tummy since I was a child. I had to give it up as it is not good for the baby. I thought, it was only a matter of 9 months and I will be back, snoring on my tummy. Only, if I knew that my overgrown uterus and breasts are not going to permit me that.
  2. Coffee, Coffee, Coffee: Though I am not addicted to coffee, but I can’t resist when I smell coffee. Café Coffee Day being outside my office campus, tempted me all the more to have an iced coffee, every once in a while. After being pregnant, I could only drool from faraway at the people sipping that creamy, delicious coffee. Only, if I knew that caffeine can pass in the breast milk and can cause fussiness in the baby. And, who loves a fussy baby? So, I am still waiting for him to wean.
  3. Ice-cream: We had the ice-cream tub or brick, almost all the time in our freezer. We stopped stocking it as it has stabilizers which is not good for growing foetus. Only, if I knew that it wasn’t good for the breastfeeding mother, as well. I had my 1st scoop of ice-cream (during the day time), after he was 9 months old. I had forgotten the taste in 18 months and now I don’t know when I am going to have it again (hopefully not as long as 9 months)
  4. Sneeze with my mouth closed: I am not a noisy sneezer. I would sneeze and you wouldn’t know even if you are sitting next to me. Don’t ask me what happens when you sneeze with your mouth closed, in pregnancy. So, I had to move from “Chi” to “Aaachuu” during pregnancy, hoping again that I will be back to normal after 9 months. Only, if I knew that postpartum, sneezing is still a task. Even if I attempt to sneeze with my mouth closed, I regret it immediately.
  5. Apply nail polish on my toes: I have manly feet (I guess I belong to Big Foot family, haha) and I can’t make out my feet from my husband’s, if I don’t paint my toenails. During pregnancy, my lovey-dovey husband reluctantly painted my toenails as part of pampering me. Though I was happy, but strokes were always more than it was required. Again, I didn’t really have a choice, given that I had a huge belly. Fast forward to Post-Partum, it is still a task to reach my toes to paint them, which reminds me that I last painted them in January.
  6. Sit on a sofa or beanbag: Sitting on a plush sofa or a beanbag is more like diving into it and there is no coming back from it. It takes you ages to return to floor. Sitting on a plush chair or a beanbag is still a dream.
  7. Tie my own shoelaces: Again, due to huge belly, I stopped doing my shoelaces from 4th  month onwards. Though my husband did it for me, which was so adorable, he also teased me for this. I challenged him that I won’t need him to do this for me post-partum. Only, if I knew, the belly wasn’t going in anytime soon. It is a good thing that I had already tied all the shoes to make them slip-ons.

What are the things, you are still not able to do, post-partum?
