Mr. & Mrs Singh, now parents of 3-year-old adorable girl, had started toying with the idea of extending their family after 3 years of marriage. Both are working professionals and love to explore new places. It seemed like a task for Mrs. Singh to keep a tab on her monthly cycle, due to which she didn’t realize that she had missed her period. It was only when they were packing up for their trip to Leh-Ladakh, she sat down to remember her last period’s date. Then, it occurred to her that it has been more than 45 days, which made them rush to the pharmacy. They were ecstatic when two pink lines appeared, confirming the pregnancy.
Though they were prepared but they hadn’t planned for it. There was lot of planning which was to be done after this unexpected news.
They consulted the gynaecologist and got all the necessary tests done. They even got the doctor’s approval to continue with their vacation but ‘take is easy’ is what was suggested. They settled for a relaxing staycation in Delhi than an adventurous trip to Leh.
Singhs were not particular happy about missing their adventurous trip, but they didn’t regret it. They knew that they were in for a life-time of adventure now.
Mr. Singh went in over-protective mode once they were back. Also, he never missed even a single doctor’s visit or ultrasound.
Once, Mrs. Singh completed her first trimester, she called her mother to stay with them as she needed an extra hand during the time. Juggling between work and home was leaving her exhausted.
Though unexpected, their journey was mostly smooth. They were making the best out of it. At times, Mrs. Singh used to scold her baby bump playfully, when the little one kicked a lot or didn’t let her sleep. Then, Mr. Singh used to jump in as a protective father, the night in shining armor of their unborn baby.
When Mrs. Singh entered her 8th month, they came to know that the baby was growing fast. After all the tests, they came to know it was due to high sugar levels, so she was advised to cut off the sugar and related items till the delivery.
She availed ‘Work from Home’ to focus on her health and her growing belly. They had planned and opted for a C-section, given the growth of the baby and it was a unanimous decision.
Mrs. Singh didn’t want any loose ends from work and wanted to focus completely on the baby, post-delivery. To ensure that she didn’t hesitate to work till the last night of her pregnancy.
Next day, they arrived at the hospital for the procedure. Mrs. Singh loved her baby bump. Before going in for the procedure, she was hugging and holding her baby bump, telling it that she is going to miss it so much.
On seeing this, Mr. Singh intervened, assuring her that her baby bump wasn’t going anywhere. Instead the little one, who is inside is going to be in your arms, soon.
It was the most joyous moment for both of them when they held their little girl in their arms.
Mrs. Singh says, “We were extremely happy throughout the journey as we were saved from all the planning and the waiting phase. Irrespective of all the discomfort my body went through, we loved and enjoyed every moment; be it the first kick, the first movement, the first ultrasound or the food cravings (which I used to blame on the baby). It was all worth it!”
Mr. & Mrs. Singh had an uneventful journey but they had their own way of enjoying each moment and make it adventurous.
